Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the state, bringing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Ice Stones and Widespread Damage

Homeowners reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the widespread outages.

Victorian Climate Difficulties

Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both areas.

Medical Alert

Public health experts alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
