A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
